Illinois revenues top $50 billion for the first time ever.

The Comptroller, Susana Mendoza, has done a nice job getting the state’s bills paid (it was really bad for a while) and its credit upgraded. In a post sharing this news, she led with “Better-than-expected state revenues are great.” It feels very odd to me, though, that the government should celebrate extracting more-than-expected taxes from the people.
