One reason I think that blockchain technology is too early to go mainstream: it’s so complicated!

Take these recent stories announcing new spins on bitcoin & blockchain. Frankly, I have a hard time understanding them without really sitting down to think. Before this technology can realize its potential, what must happen? What path did the internet take to get from complicated modem setup and BBS dial-ins to the ease of AOL?
